Wayne Gretzky is ”heartbroken” amid criticism, says his wife Janet

Wayne Gretzky has been the subject of criticism from Canadians for his friendship with Donald Trump. Now, Janet Gretzky breaks her silence on the matter, saying her husband is “heartbroken.”

Donald Trump has threatened Canada with tariffs and also made remarks about how the country should become the United States’ 51st state. He has also mocked Prime Minister Justin Trudeau by calling him “Governor.” In the middle of all this is Wayne Gretzky.

During the 4 Nations Face-Off, as tensions continued to rise between the countries, Wayne Gretzky found himself receiving criticism. Gretzky was a panelist for NHL on TNT during the tournament but didn’t say anything about Trump’s remarks about Canada. Gretzky has also shown support for Trump by attending his inauguration and election party.

Janet Gretzky says Wayne is ”heartbroken”

This past weekend, the legendary Bobby Orr wrote an op-ed defending Gretzky, and now, Janet Gretzky, The Great One’s wife, has shared her thoughts on the matter. In an Instagram post on Thursday, Janet Gretzky said that she’s “never met anyone who is more proud to be a Canadian, and it has broken his heart to read and see the mean comments.”

Janet Gretzky later deleted the post, but several media outlets, including Sportsnet, have reported on it. Janet Gretzky also said that Wayne “would do anything to make Canadians proud.”
