Report: KHL Star Eyeing NHL Comeback

After spending six seasons in Russia playing in the KHL, former first overall selection and NHL sharpshooter Ilya Kovalchuk is reportedly looking to return to North American hockey next season.

Aivis Kalniņš is a KHL insider and has tweeted out that Kovy has intentions of leaving the KHL after this season.

Kovalchuk was signed to the New Jersey Devils when he departed for his homeland but would become a free agent if he were to try and sign with an NHL club.

Kovalchuk has currently played 298 games in the KHL, tallying 138 goals and 327 points. He has played 816 NHL games and has scored 816 points.

Kovalchuk is 34-years-old and just recently won gold at the Olympics.
