Toronto Maple Leafs

The Toronto Maple Leafs are a professional hockey team based in Toronto, Canada. Founded as the Toronto Arenas ahead of the 1917-18 season, they are one of the Original Six teams of the NHL. They play their home games at Scotiabank Arena and compete in the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference. The Maple Leafs have won 13 Stanley Cups in franchise history, but none since 1967.

Toronto Maple Leafs History

The franchise was formed in 1917 in Toronto, originally known as the Toronto Blueshirts. They were part of the NHL’s inaugural season in 1917 and, in 1942, became one of the league’s Original Six teams alongside the Boston Bruins, Chicago Black Hawks, Detroit Red Wings, Montréal Canadiens, and New York Rangers. The Maple Leafs were a dominant team in the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s, winning ten Stanley Cup championships during that span. However, they currently hold the longest championship drought in NHL history at 57 seasons.
