Dallas Stars History

As part of the NHL's six-team expansion in 1967, the Minnesota North Stars were founded, playing their games in Bloomington, Minnesota. In 1978, the North Stars merged with the Cleveland Barons, becoming the only NHL franchise to merge with another. The team relocated to Dallas in 1993 and was renamed the Dallas Stars. They captured their first—and so far only—Stanley Cup in 1999. The Stars won another Western Conference championship in the 2019-20 season, ultimately falling to the Tampa Bay Lightning in the Stanley Cup Final.
