What a heavyweight tilt!
Brady Tkachuk, born September 16, 1999, is an American hockey player and the captain of the Ottawa Senators. Drafted 4th overall in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft, he set a career-high with 83 points in the 2022-23 season.
Before his NHL career, Tkachuk played for the St. Louis AAA Blues U16 before committing to the USA Hockey National Team Development Program. After two years with the NTDP, he joined Boston University. As a freshman, he recorded 8 goals and 31 points in 49 games.
Tkachuk was selected fourth overall in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft, following Rasmus Dahlin (Buffalo Sabres), Andrei Svechnikov (Carolina Hurricanes), and Jesperi Kotkaniemi (Montreal Canadiens). On August 13, 2018, he signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Senators.
He made his NHL debut on October 8, 2018, and in just his second game, he scored twice against the Philadelphia Flyers. Ahead of the 2020-21 season, Tkachuk was named an alternate captain for the Senators. In October 2021, he signed a seven-year, $57.5 million contract with Ottawa. A month later, on November 5, 2021, he was named the tenth captain in franchise history.
Tkachuk captained Team USA to a gold medal at the 2017 IIHF World U18 Championship. In the 2025 4 Nations Face-Off, though Auston Matthews was named captain, Tkachuk made headlines when he fought Sam Bennett during Team USA’s game against Canada.
Brady Tkachuk is the son of NHL legend Keith Tkachuk. His older brother, Matthew Tkachuk, is an NHL superstar for the Florida Panthers and won the Stanley Cup in 2024.
Off the ice, Brady Tkachuk is married to Emma Farinacci. The couple welcomed their first child, a son named Ryder, on September 16, 2024.
