There’s no referee that can make calls in the NHL better than Wes McCauley. The long time referee is known for his dramatic calls and penalty announcements, making his NHL debut all the way back in 2003.
Since, McCauley’ has grown into one of the best and most respected officials in the game. The Georgetown, Ontario native’s been in charge in over 1000 games in the NHL.
Back in January, with 392 NHL players answering a poll in The Athletic, 71 percent of them chose McCauley as the best referee in the league.
Throughout the years, McCauley’s called plenty of awesome and dramatic calls, making fans, players and even coaches laugh.
Last night, he was at it again when calling the game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Columbus Blue Jackets.
In a situation, including several players behind the net, McCauley decided to interfere.
But he didn’t do it as other refs would. He did it the McCauley way, and we absolutely love it!
