Wayne Gretzky is the GOAT of hockey, and he’s up there with the best when it comes to chirping.
Gretzky nowadays works as an analyst for TNT during their NHL on TNT broadcasts, and although Gretzky isn’t there for every game during the regular season, he tends to be on the panel more during the playoffs.
And it’s always such a great time. Gretzky, being the greatest player of all time, has a lot of great insights to share about the game and how the players are feeling in various situations.
If Gretzky is the GOAT of hockey, another TNT panelist could well be the GOAT of chirping.
Paul Bissonnette didn’t have the best NHL career, but as a media personality, he’s great and one of the most well-liked figures in all of hockey.
The difference between Gretzky and Bissonnette’s careers is enormous.
The Great One scored 894 goals and 2,857 points in 1,487 games. On the other hand, Paul Bissonnette scored seven goals and 22 points in 202 games.
And when the two were on the same broadcast on Monday for Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals between the Edmonton Oilers and Dallas Stars, Wayne Gretzky hilariously gave Bissonnette a taste of his own medicine with one of the greatest chirps this year.
During the postgame segment, after the Stars had just beaten the Oilers 5-3 to take a 2-1 series lead, BizNasty said that if he could have any jersey in the NHL, he’d want an Igor Shesterkin jersey.
That’s when Wayne Gretzky saw his opportunity to absolutely bury Bissonnette.
”Do you know why?” Gretzky suddenly turned to Bissonnette and said as a response to him pointing out Shesterkin.
”You’re tied in goals.”
Paul Bissonnette looked stunned after Gretzky’s hilarious chirp but then responded with, ’Wayne, shut up.’
After that, Gretzky also took a dig at his own career.
”You know what? I’m tied in fights with him.”
