Warren Foegele reached the Stanley Cup Final with the Edmonton Oilers last year but signed with the LA Kings before the 2024-25 season. Now, he’s shared his feelings about his former team—and Oilers fans are not loving it.
Foegele joined the Oilers in 2021, and last season, he had the best year of his career, recording 41 points in 82 games. He also played 22 games in the playoffs as Edmonton made it to the Stanley Cup Final, ultimately losing Game 7 to the Florida Panthers in a thrilling series.
Last summer, Foegele signed a three-year contract with the Kings worth $3.5 million AAV, and so far, it’s been a great fit for both him and the team. He’s on pace for the best season of his career, sitting just four points shy of his previous high. Now on the Kings’ side of the rivalry against Edmonton, Foegele made a surprising comment in a recent interview, saying he “hates” the Oilers.
Warren Foegele’s surprisingly slams the Oilers
While he was clearly speaking in a lighthearted manner, it’s not often that players use that kind of language about their former teams.
“I don’t know, I’m part of it—like, I hate them too,” Foegele said. “I hate the Oilers too, so it’s just part of the game.”
Later in the interview, posted on the Kings’ social media, Foegele was shown a picture of himself scoring against the Oilers, with Evan Bouchard seen smiling in the background.
“That’s a great picture. It’s me scoring against the Oilers,” he said. “That’s probably one of my best friends, Evan Bouchard, and he’s caught smiling at me scoring! That’s a good friend, for sure.”
