It hasn’t been the best season for Trevor Zegras.
The hyped-up 23-year-old, known for his fancy moves and lacrosse-style plays, has had trouble with injuries and only played 25 games.
And he hasn’t been the offensive force the Ducks need him to be while playing.
He’s only racked up four goals and a total of nine points, and last night, in a game against the Calgary Flames, Zegras was involved in an incident that had fans laughing, and it didn’t take long before Zegras got trolled on social media for it.
During the game against the Flames, Zegras was skating near the boards under pressure from a Flames player.
That caused Zegras to retreat with the puck into the defensive zone. But while battling along the boards, Zegras awkwardly collided with a referee, leading to his helmet coming off, and the Ducks nearly scored on the breakaway.
If it hadn’t been for a great save from Lukas Dostal, Zegras’ collision with the referee could’ve been a lot worse, but now, it just led to laughs from fans.
Understandably, Zegras was not happy with the incident. As he got back to the bench, still without a helmet, he was visibly angry and even slammed his stick in frustration.
On social media, however, fans weren’t as angry. Instead, they were quick to troll Zegras for the funny-looking incident.
”You wanna skill it up? This is what happens bud,” one said.
”Does Zegras do anything anymore?” another said.
”Give that man a raise. Rare win for the refs,” a third added.
”Dude is such a drama queen. Guy will be playing in European 2nd division team in 3 years,” a fourth said.
