St. Louis Blues sign 12-year-old Make-A-Wish kid for one day

This is what hockey is all about. Earlier this week, the St. Louis Blues added some depth to their roster by signing 12-year-old fan Carter Johnson to a one-day contract. Carter, diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, got to train with the team, and the scenes of him scoring a goal on Jordan Binnington are now warming the hearts of hockey fans everywhere.

Through the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Carter Johnson got to spend the day with the St. Louis Blues, his favorite team. He was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma after his 11th birthday.

Now, after undergoing multiple surgeries and rounds of chemotherapy, he’s in remission and able to play hockey again. Earlier this week, he was signed to a one-day contract by the Blues, and as he signed the papers, his favorite players, Jordan Kyrou and Robert Thomas, were there as witnesses.

Carter also practiced with the team, and in a very wholesome turn of events, he even scored a breakaway goal against goalie Jordan Binnington. The video of the goal, followed by all of his teammates mobbing him in celebration, went viral on social media, with everyone loving the incredible gesture from the Blues.
“Greatest sport in the world,” one user said on social media.
“Love things like this,” another said.
“Everyone liked that,” a third added.
