Sid the Kid may not be a kid anymore, but at 37, he’s still going very strong. Sidney Crosby is coming off a whopping 42-goal, 94-point season, where he carried the Pittsburgh Penguins to playoff contention.
Crosby finished 12th in the NHL scoring race, which is nothing short of incredible given his age. His Penguins missed the playoffs for the second year in a row, but they came close, and they had Crosby to thank for it.
Earlier this month, Crosby signed a two-year extension with the Penguins, and just like the last time he signed a contract with the Penguins, he settled for $8.7 million US per season. Crosby will probably finish his career with the Penguins, and when he eventually retires, he will go down as one of the best players in hockey history.
Crosby has been the face of the franchise for almost 20 years, and it’s hard to imagine the NHL without him. But what Sid the Kid’s life have looked like if it weren’t for hockey? After one practice during the Pens’ training camp, the social media team for the Penguins asked players coming off the ice: ”What would your career be if you didn’t play hockey?”

The responses varied a lot from player to player, with some saying they would’ve been professionals in ping pong, golf, or tennis, and some saying they would be fishing guides in Sweden. But the most interesting answer came from Sidney Crosby, and fans were left confused when they heard it, as he said he’d be a firefighter.
It may not seem that strange initially, but if you know Sidney Crosby’s history in commercials, you should know why fans reacted to his answer. In 2016, Crosby was shooting a commercial for Tim Hortons with superstar Nathan MacKinnon, Colorado Avalanche.

During the shooting, Crosby did some drills at a fire station and then admitted that he was afraid of heights when he was about to climb a tall ladder.
But despite his scares of heights, Crosby seems certain he would be a great firefighter; to be fair, he probably would!
