Sidney Crosby hosts Thanksgiving meal for his teammates

At 37, Sidney Crosby is still proving to be an elite talent and one of the best players in the NHL. But Sid is also a special person off the ice and one of the most generous and kind players in the league.

Sidney Crosby is Canadian-born but has been living in the U.S. since he was drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins nearly 20 years ago.

Crosby is a big fan of Thanksgiving food and celebrates the holiday the same way every year. It’s one of the most wholesome gestures we’ve ever heard of.

Sidney Crosby’s heartwarming gesture

Most Americans celebrate Thanksgiving with their families and loved ones. But not everyone is lucky enough to have family to celebrate with, and that’s especially true for NHL players, many of whom have their families in other countries. On Thursday, teammate Marcus Pettersson revealed Sidney Crosby’s very own special Thanksgiving celebration, and it speaks volumes about what a person and captain he is.

Apparently, according to the Pens Inside Scoop, Crosby always welcomes his Penguins teammates into his home on Thanksgiving.

Teammates’ kind words about Crosby

Those without family nearby can rest assured that they have somewhere to be. Not only that, but they’re welcome to stay for as long as they like. Check out the post on X from Pens Inside Scoop here:

Sidney Crosby has always been known for his generosity and for taking care of his teammates. He often brings home-baked cookies and banana bread to his teammates throughout the season. Over the years, he’s also given his Penguins teammates gifts, such as personalized iPads and AirPods.

“Me and Raks (Rikard Rakell) were actually just joking around about how good he is at giving gifts,” teammate Marcus Pettersson told NHL.com. “I don’t know if he has a thought behind it about when he retires, that he is expecting a lot of gifts back from everybody (laughs). But I don’t think so. I think he’s just a great guy.”
