Not everyone loves Sidney Crosby, but looking at the facts, he’s still one of the most popular players in the NHL. During his fantastic career, Sid the Kid has won three Stanley Cups and is a two-time Conn Smythe Trophy winner. When Crosby retires, he’s a lock for the Hall of Fame, and he will be considered one of the best players in history.
Crosby has always been a player that gets people talking. The Pittsburgh Penguins fans absolutely love him, but his rivalry fans? Not so much, always. But whether you like him or not, you can’t argue that he’s a great leader. Crosby has been the captain of the Pittsburgh Penguins since his third season in the NHL. This season is his 18th with Pittsburgh and the 16th as a captain. And if you’re a team captain, you must take care of your teammates.
But Pens reporter Matt Vensel shared details of how Crosby is as a captain that you wouldn’t really expect from a superstar of his dignity. Talking to teammate Casey DeSmith, the goalie revealed that Crosby earlier this week baked banana bread for his teammates, which he brought to the rink.

Not many sports stars go through that kind of trouble, but his teammates were thrilled.
“I really admire him,” said Casey DeSmith, according to Matt Vensel.
Sidney Crosby is known for a lot of things. Being one of the most superstitious players in the league is one of them.
Since the banana bread story was known, fans are now joking about how Crosby will bake banana bread every week if the Pens go on a winning streak.
”Not gonna lie, that was my first thought too. Definitely a new superstition if Sid does well tonight,” said one fan.
Pittsburgh did end up winning against the LA Kings 6-1. Crosby had one assist, so perhaps his teammates can expect more banana bread in the future.
