Brent Burns has scored 212 goals in his amazing NHL career. But he’s gonna have a hard time finding a better one than the one he scored against the Minnesota Wild on Sunday.
With just 1:48 remaining in the third period, with the score tied 3-3, Burns took the puck of draw before dangling through the Wild’s defense, slotting the puck with a backhand shot to beat Kaapo Kahkonen in goal.
The goal more looked like it came from Pavel Datsyuk in his prime, rather than a 35 year old defenseman, and it’s safe to say that even Burns was chocked.
”It starts with Tomas Hertl with a great draw. He wins it, and these guys have blocked so many shots and it was another one that they blocked. Luckily it kind of stayed, and I don’t know what happened after that. I kinda blacked out, I think”, Burns told NBCS after the game.
The goal put Sharks ahead 4-3 in the game, that ended 5-3.
