San Jose star Evander Kane gets ejected for abuse of official, calls ejection “absolute joke”

.

The pre season game between the Vegas Golden Knights and San Jose Sharks was anything but friendly.

The teams, who met in a thrilling seven-game first round series won by Sharks last season, combined for 26 penalties totalling 114(!) minutes.

San Jose Sharks star Evander Kane finished the game with a whopping 27 penalty minutes.

Slashed the official

The left winger got into a fight with Valentin Zykov in the first period, which handed him a five-minuter major.

But in the third period things got out of hand.

With 8 minutes left to play, Evander Kane got into an altercation with Knights’ defender Deryk Engelland.

In pure frustration Kane slashed Engelland, but the lash also appeared to make contact with official Kiel Murchison.

Murchison responded with grabbing Kane’s jersey and they both fell to the ice.

Kane ejected

As they went up Kane, appeared to push Murchison, and the Sharks star was ejected for abuse of officials.

Before he returned to the dressing room, he yelled at the officials from the Sharks’ bench.

Facing media after the game, Kane was openly disappointed with the officials.

“I get kicked out of the game for getting jumped from behind by a referee. I’ve never seen a ref take five strides,” Kane told ESPN.

“If you look at his face, he’s getting all this power and he’s trying to drive me into the ice, which is what he did. That’s unbelievable. Talk about abuse of an official? How about abuse of a player? It’s an absolute joke.”
