The Anaheim Ducks hosted a Futures Night at the Honda Center as the Fucks faced off against the Minnesota Wild on Wednesday.
The meaning with the Futures Night was to ”provide young fans who are interested in pursuing a career in the sports industry with hands-on experience learning the ins and outs of working a Ducks game by shadowing Ducks employees.”
During the game, the Ducks made several fun cameos from young fans, as kids from the local community got the chance to be a ”future” coach, broadcaster, ice crew manager, equipment manager, and many more.
It was such a cool and a great idea, and an important one as well. Kids are so great, but one cameo stood out from the rest.
Ryan Getzlaf is a true Ducks icon and is the all-time leader in assists and games played for the organization. He also holds the franchise record for assist in a season, and he led the Ducks to their first-ever Stanley Cup in just his second NHL season.

He’s a cult hero in Anaheim, and his son, Ryder, is quite the character as well. Ahead of Futures Night, 11-year-old Ryder attended a Ducks practice as the teams’ junior reporter, and it’s one of the most hilarious things we’ve seen.
Ryder isn’t your standard reporter. Instead, he chirps every interview object and totally roasts several players. Here’s a list of the excellent burns he delivered.
- He roasted forward Troy Terry for moving his eyebrows too much when talking.
- He claims that forward Max Comtois is too dumb to be a lawyer.
- He claims that Trevor Zegras is the player most needing dating advice.
Ryder is such a cool kid, and his reactions to the players’ answers are pure gold.
For example, he couldn’t believe that goalie Lukas Dostal had his first girlfriend in second grade.
Give it a watch. We promise you won’t regret it.
