Ryan Lomberg spent four seasons with the Florida Panthers and grew to hate the Tampa Bay Lightning. Lomberg played against them on Thursday, this time as a Flames player, and didn’t mince words when talking about his feelings for the opponent—even dropping a major F-bomb in a pre-game interview.
Ryan Lomberg returned to the Calgary Flames this summer after spending four seasons with the Florida Panthers. He won a Stanley Cup in his final season with the team and made a name for himself as a reliable bottom-six forward who always plays with grit and energy.
Lomberg signed a two-year contract with the Flames, and on Thursday, he and his team were on the road facing the Tampa Bay Lightning, a former in-state rival of the Florida Panthers.
Ryan Lomberg’s huge F-bomb
The Lightning won back-to-back Stanley Cups while Lomberg was in Florida, and it’s clear he hasn’t forgotten his true feelings about them. Ahead of Thursday’s game between the Lightning and Flames, he was interviewed by Sportsnet’s Darren Pang about his return to former enemy territory—and he dropped the most hilarious comment.
“You’ve got a lot of history in this building, some good and some bad,” Pang said to Lomberg. “Do you like coming here, or do you hate it?”
Lomberg’s response wasn’t suitable for live TV.
“I like the palm trees and the sunshine, but I f—king hate these guys.”
The expletive also sparked a reaction from Pang, who was almost in shock, saying, “Wow, we’re live.”
