The Avalanche held a 1-0 lead in Thursday’s contest when Wild defenseman Declan Chisholm had possession of the puck behind his own net. Chisholm attempted a routine pass to a teammate but completely whiffed on the puck.
The mistake left Ross Colton with a golden opportunity, and all he had to do was tap the puck into the net to make it 2-0. Colton couldn’t hide his surprise at the unexpected gift.

Colton’s post-goal reaction quickly went viral, and he didn’t disappoint during a TV interview at intermission. When asked about the goal and his priceless reaction, he offered another laugh-worthy response.
“I think I was a little surprised. I might have to go buy a lottery ticket or something,” he said, grinning.
