Report: Jaromir Jagr plans to sign with former club

It seems like Jaromir Jagr’s North American hockey career may be over, according to NHL Insider and personality Elliotte Friedman.

Friedman reported that Jagr would be placed on waivers at noon ET on the 28th and low and behold the 45-year-old from Czech Republic was officially placed on the wire. He also reported that it was mutual between the Flames and Jagr.

Friedman next reported that Jagr’s newest club may be Kladno in Czech Republic. Jagr played multiple seasons with HC Kladno U18 and U20, before playing with the big club HC Kladno.

Jagr tallied 168 points in 137 games at the highest level of Czech Republic hockey and being a native of Kladno, it’s no surprise Jagr would return home to continue his career.

Jaromir spent all off-season searching for a club before signing with the Flames. In 22 GP this season Jagr racked up 1 goal and 7 points. He was placed on IR earlier in January.

If it’s the official end of Jagr’s NHL career, he’s certainly had a heck of a run. Jagr currently sits 3rd all-time in Games Played and is second only to Wayne Gretzky in all-time points.
