Connor Bedard scored a sensational goal against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday. But he was also involved in a controversial incident that had his teammates and fans furious.
Connor Bedard has picked up the pace and now has a point in three straight games. He scored a breathtaking goal on the power play in Tuesday’s game against the Lightning, finding the net from a very tight angle. The Blackhawks won the game 4-1, and the hosts were visibly frustrated at times.
In the third period, Connor Bedard tripped Erik Cernak with his stick, and the officials raised their arms for a penalty call on the 2023 first-overall pick.
Dangerous shove on Connor Bedard
Although play was stopped and Bedard was penalized, Lightning forward Michael Eyssimont wasn’t happy. After the whistle, Eyssimont came to Cernak’s support, shoving the young Blackhawks star straight into the boards.
Tyler Bertuzzi was quick to retaliate for the shove on Bedard, grabbing Eyssimont and giving him a taste of his own medicine. Eyssimont was handed two two-minute penalties, while Bedard and Bertuzzi were also sent to the sin bin—Bedard for tripping and Bertuzzi for roughing.
On social media, fans were quick to slam Eyssimont for his dangerous play on Bedard. Not only was he unprepared for what was coming, but Lightning also lost their powerplay because of what he did.
