Marc-Andre Fleury names the best prank of his NHL career

There isn’t a single NHL fan who has something bad to say about Marc-Andre Fleury—and it’s not just because of his incredible shot-stopping. Sure, Fleury is one of the greatest goalies of all time, but he’s equally known for his relentless, legendary pranking of teammates. And now, he’s revealed his favorite one—and when you hear how much effort went into it, it’s hard to argue with his choice.

Marc-Andre Fleury is one of the greatest netminders of his generation. He began his career with the Pittsburgh Penguins, winning three Stanley Cups alongside stars like Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and Kris Letang. It was also in Pittsburgh that he picked up a new hobby—one he would embrace and refine throughout his NHL career: pranking.

For years, Fleury has been known as the NHL’s undisputed king of pranks, and it hasn’t mattered which team he’s played for or how big a superstar his target was. When he was with the Penguins, even Sidney Crosby—widely considered the most complete player in the world—wasn’t safe from his mischief. And just this past week, during the final stretch of the regular season, Fleury pulled off a prank on a Minnesota Wild rookie.

Marc-Andre Fleury on his best prank

He recently appeared on After Hours with Scott Oake to talk about his love for pranking and where it all started.
“When I started in Pittsburgh, there were a lot of older guys who would do them, and I think that’s when I started loving it,” Fleury said.
“And then Marc Bergevin was my first roommate too, and he kind of showed me the ropes with that stuff.”

On the show, Fleury also revealed his favorite prank of all time—and to no one’s surprise, he picked the infamous “Hotel Room Prank.” Ahead of the 2011 Winter Classic in Pittsburgh, Fleury completely emptied the hotel room of teammates Mark Letestu and Ben Lovejoy, moving everything—beds, nightstands, TV, couch—into the hallway (see the video down below). When they got off the elevator, their room was neatly reassembled outside the door.
“I think my favorite one would’ve been when I put the guys’ hotel room in the hallway,” he said. “I think it’s good.”

"He even moved out the alarm clocks, plugged them in, set the time, moved pictures out. Like, it was to the max." 😂Mike Rupp shares his memory of Marc-Andre Fleury's extremely detailed hotel prank when they played for the Penguins.
