LA Kings fans embarrass Stuart Skinner with humiliating chant

The Edmonton Oilers are now just two losses away from being eliminated from the Stanley Cup Playoffs. And things are especially rough for goalie Stuart Skinner. He was pulled from Game 2 after a questionable performance—and then LA Kings fans decided to rub salt in the wound.

The Oilers are home to two of the greatest players in the world, Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, and their roster is stacked with top-tier NHL talent. But in recent years, even as the Oilers have looked more and more like serious Cup contenders, concerns about their goaltending have lingered.

Stuart Skinner faced intense pressure during last year’s playoffs, but thanks to a record-breaking postseason from Connor McDavid, Edmonton pushed all the way to Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final. They eventually lost to the Florida Panthers. And during the 2024–25 season, many argued that the team needed to address its goaltending—potentially by trading for a superstar netminder. But the organization kept its faith in Skinner.

Stuart Skinner humiliated

Now, just two games into their first-round series against the LA Kings, that decision is being seriously questioned.

After dropping Game 1 in Los Angeles, the Oilers never found their footing in Game 2. Stuart Skinner had another shaky night and was pulled midway through the third period, with the Oilers trailing 5–2. He allowed five goals on 28 shots—after giving up six on 30 in Game 1. While three of the Kings’ goals in Game 2 came on the power play, head coach Kris Knoblauch had seen enough and replaced Skinner with Calvin Pickard. Pickard promptly allowed a sixth goal on a shot from Adrian Kempe, and after the game, Knoblauch declined to name a starter for Game 3.

But Kings fans seem to know exactly who they want to see between the pipes for the Oilers. After Stuart Skinner was pulled, the LA crowd poured it on by chanting loudly: “We want Skinner!”

On social media, fans were buzzing over the savage move.
“I’ve heard fans chant a goalie’s name when he’s letting a few in,” one person wrote. “But damn—chanting for the benched goalie to come back in a blowout? That’s cold.”
