Kevin Bieksa and Zack Kassian surely had some wild times together playing for the Vancouver Canucks.
Speaking on the podcast “Kes & Juice”, the duo talks about that time when they started fighting – in a hotel elevator.
Zack Kassian was drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the first round 13th overall in the 2009 NHL draft.
Playing one year with the Sabres, the Windsor, Ontario native was traded to the Vancouver Canucks playing along side Kevin Bieksa and Ryan Kesler.
The duo started their own podcast “Kes & Juice” earlier this year, and on the last episode they were joined by Zack Kassian, now playing for the Edmonton Oilers.
Bieksa remembers one specific moment during their time in Vancouver when the team went out for drinks during the day. Later that night, Bieksa, Kesler, Kassian among other players went back to a hotel in the city.
Kassian pushed Kesler and Kesler pushed back. And in the hotel elevator, Kassian got into a fight with Bieksa.
“You and me were fighting and suddenly I pushed you out of the elevator and the elevator goes up half way and stops. Sp I’m stucked in the elevator and you’re trying to jump up and we’re giving it to each other verbally. Then you just give up and say “I’m going home”, Bieksa recalls on the podcast “Kes & Juice”.
When the elevator finally came down, Bieksa also decided to go home. In the morning, his wife asked him why Zack Kassian was calling him all night.
“I’m listening to my messages and you’re saying “Juice, where are you, we got to settle this”, Bieksa says.
Later that day the pair met at the rink, laughing about the elevator incident.
“I was probably being an idiot. I probably said something stupid and obviously you’re not going to take any shit. You know what, that happens. We came to the rink and it wasn’t a big deal”, Kassian says on the podcast “Kes & Juice”.
