It didn’t take long for Jonathan Toews and Ryan Kesler to drop the mitts Sunday evening.
Off the opening faceoff, the two centers for their respective clubs let off some steam early in the contest. This fight was years in the making, as Kesler and Toews have bad blood dating back to when Kesler was on the Vancouver Canucks. After many playoff series between the two elite centers, we finally saw the two exchange fists.
Kesler has had his fair share of donnybrooks over the years but I wouldn’t necessarily call him a fighter. The 6’2’’ forward has certainly fought before but hasn’t recorded more than 5 fights in one season in his career. Toews’ record for most fights in a season is 2, so you know Kesler must have done something serious to irritate the Blackhawks Captain.
It’s been a frustrating season for the Blackhawks, so maybe Toews was looking to give his boys a little jump to start the game. Unfortunately, it didn’t work as the Ducks went on to defeat the Blackhawks 6-3.
