John Tortorella is a special, special coach. He’s renowned as one of the toughest coaches in the league, and his coaching style is unique and hard. He demands a lot from his players and always speaks his mind if he believes something is wrong.
Tortorella has a straightforward approach and isn’t afraid to speak up to his own players. Tortorella has also slammed young players trying to skill their way into the NHL, and he’s not a huge fan of Michigans.
Tortorella often finds new thing that bothers him, and he’s quick to speak up against them. But we have to say that this time, he’s outdone himself when it comes to criticism.
One could guess that Tortorella is a huge fan of when players train hard and often to get better. But this time, it’s actually the direct opposite, as he slammed one of his players for training too much.
Tortorella isn’t just a huge fan of players training hard. He also appreciates when they take their time to get some recover and relax.
Some days ago, rookie forward Noah Cates said at a press conference that he practices every day. He never takes a day off, so he can continue to improve. But Tortorella isn’t a huge fan.
“It pisses me off that he’s out on the ice. I’m gonna outlaw those skates because now it’s routine for those guys and it’s just so wrong.”
Noah Cates didn’t bother too much with Tortorella’s remarks. He responded:
”Kind of like to say the hockey Gods will reward you if put in the work and you go out there.”
