The Winnipeg Jets has had an amazing start to the season, but earlier this week, they suffered their first loss of the 2024-25 campaign against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
They came out hungry for revenge and a victory in their game against the Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday.
If there was any doubt about how much they wanted to bounce back with a win, you only needed to look at the bench and head coach Scott Arniel.

The Jets held a 3-0 lead after the first period and continued to look sharp in the second. But halfway through the second period, the Jets’ Dylan Samberg was sent to the penalty box for an interference minor, leaving fans stunned by the call after watching the replays.
The Jets were in possession of the puck in the offensive zone when Samberg had a minor and seemingly harmless collision with J.T. Compher. Compher just slightly lost balance but didn’t fall to the ice, yet the officials thought it was enough for a penalty. Jets head coach Scott Arniel was not happy about it.

Detroit went on to score on the ensuing power play, which led Arniel to completely lose it on the bench. He was yelling at the referees, and you didn’t need to be a professional lip reader to see that he was saying, “That’s on you!” after Dylan Larkin’s 3-1 goal, the Red Wings cut Winnipeg’s lead to 3-2 with another power-play goal. On social media, many seemed to agree that the call was absolutely horrific, with some even calling it the worst of the season. But after that, the Jets managed to regain momentum and eventually won 6-2, improving to a 9-1-0 record.
