Talk about a massive step in the right direction for the Buffalo Sabres.
They had an embarrassing loss against the Columbus Blue Jackets earlier this week, allowing nine goals and scoring four.
However, on Thursday, they bounced back and ended a three-game losing streak, with star forward Jeff Skinner back in the lineup against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Skinner had two goals and an assist in his return from injury for the Sabres after he’d missed three games with an upper-body injury sustained Dec. 13 against the Colorado Avalanche.
It was a humiliating 9-3 loss for the Toronto Maple Leafs, with goalie Ilya Samsonov getting blamed for allowing several easy goals.
But the whole team played badly, and it’s the first time in 40 years that a team scored nine goals after allowing nine in their previous game.
Tie Domi scored one of the Leafs’ three goals but got in the spotlight for a completely different reason. Earlier this December, he went viral after hilariously mocking an opponent for being bald.
But on Thursday, he was on the receiving end of one of the best chirps we’ve heard this season.
Jeff Skinner didn’t just score two goals in the game. With one minute left in the game, Domi gave Jeff Skinner a cheap shot just outside of the Leafs’ bench.
Full chaos erupted, with both benches getting involved in the scrum. And when officials eventually separated the players, Skinner could be seen and heard saying, ‘You have no f—king teeth! For the rest of your life! F—king loser!’
On social media, everyone absolutely loved Skinner’s chirp, and that Domi was on the receiving end of it.
“Jeffrey Skinner is him,” one said.
“I love Skinner. What a beauty,” another said.
”I love this man,” a third added.”
