During trade deadline, both New York Rangers and New York Islanders made significant changes to their rosters. Rangers shipped Brady Skjei to Carolina while the Islanders traded for Jean-Gabriel Pageau and quickly signing him on a seven-year-contract.
The newest member of the Islanders made his mark straight away. Last night, the Battle of New York commenced and the Isles’ forward started off with a goal, netting the teams first goal of the night.
But Pageau didn’t finish the game with a single goal. In the third period, he also recorded his first fight in his new home at Long Island.
Michael Dal Colle got the puck in the defensive zone. While staring down at the ice, Rangers’ blueliner Jacob Trouba transformed into a locomotive and put in a huge hit.
Dal Colle went down hard, but Trouba wasn’t going to get away with anything. Jean-Gabriel Pageau quickly swiped in, dropping his gloves and engaged in a fight with Trouba.
Talk about a way to make his mark on his new team.
Dal Colle left the ice and went to the locker room after the hit and didn’t return. Head coach Barry Trotz spoke after the game, saying the forward is day-to-day.
