There are few things more exciting than seeing players step up during a game, finding another gear and going all in to win.
Sometimes you just gotta do what is necessary, even if it includes taunting or chirping an opponent.
Coming into the series against the Canucks, the Golden Knights knew they had to find a way to stop Elias Pettersson. The Calder winner from last year has put up 13 points in 11 games. Placing him only behind Nathan MacKinnon in the race for the league lead in playoff points.
Last night, the Golden Knights put an end to Pettersson’s point production, shutting both him and Brock Boeser down not letting them have one single shot on goal in the first and second period.
And maybe they managed to get underneath the skin of the Swedish star.
As reporter by Thomas Drance, senior writer with The Athletic Vancouver, Golden Knights players taunted Pettersson during the game. They called him a squirt from the bench.
Time will tell if this will be a recipe for success for the Golden Knights, who won the first game of the series 5-0.
