Paul Bissonnette’s feud with the New York Islanders has been one of the most entertaining things to follow this NHL season, at least if you’re neutral in the war between them.
Paul Bissonnette has called the Islanders boring for the past few years, and when the Islanders crowd booed their former captain, John Tavares after he’d just recorded his 1,000th NHL point, things got out of hand.
It even led to Butch Goring, a 74-year-old Islanders legend with four Stanley Cup championships, slamming back by calling Bissonnette a clown.
Bissonnette, an NHL analyst on TNT and co-host of the popular Spittin’ Chiclets podcast, declared war with the Islanders. But now, he seems to be in a holiday spirit.
During TNT’s pregame show on Wednesday, Bissonnette offered an olive branch and blue and orange flowers to the Islanders.
“You know, I was a little poopy pants, especially when you guys blew John T the other night when he hit his 1,000th point,” BizNasty said. “But, you know, it’s the season of being joyful, and I actually have a peace treaty. I’ve called them boring in the past, slow, non-electrifying.”
But it didn’t land well with everyone in the Islanders’ fan base. Butch Goring, who previously slammed back against Bissonnette, once again took to X, formerly Twitter, and completely shut down the peace offering.
“There is not one Islander fan who cares about your feelings or apologies. A couple of losses by the Isles, and you will jump off the bandwagon,” he wrote.
Bissonnette didn’t take long to respond back to Goring.
“The geezer is firing tonight,” he said, with a crying laughing emoji. “TNT should bring you in for a demo to show the fans how to put dentures and diapers on you, old fart.”
