Former NHL forward, dies at 42

Former Blackhawks and Islanders forward, Dmitri Nabokov past away at age 42 this weekend, Russian new outlet TASS reports.
The Russian hockey player have passed away following a severe illness.

Nabokov, a Novosibirsk native was born on January 4th 1977. He joined the NHL during the 1997-1998 season playing for the Chicago Blackhawks, scoring seven goals and posting four assists in 25 games.

In 1998-2000, Nabokov played 30 games for the New York Islanders scoring four goals along with nine assist.

The Chicago Blackhawks drafted the forward as 19th overall in the 1995 NHL entry draft.

During his career, Nabokov played for numerous Russian professional hockey clubs including the KHL team Sibir Novosibirsk.

He ended his career playing two seasons with EC Dornbirn in the Austrian second division.

Nabokov also played for the Russian national team at the 1996 Junior World Championships, posting eight points in seven games helping the team win the bronze medal following the victory against the United States.
