Alex Ovechkin isn’t just a great hockey player. He’s a family man as well. When Ovechkin scored his 800th NHL goal in Chicago after a hat trick against the Chicago Blackhawks, he revealed a wholesome conversation with his son.
As the Great Eight returned to Washington from the road game in Chicago, his son asked him how he scored three goals in Chicago. His response was pure gold.
”This my job,” Ovechkin said.
Alex Ovechkin has always been close to his family and two sons. His first son, Sergei, was born in Aug. 2018 and is now getting to the age where hockey becomes more interesting and fun. And on Tuesday, Alexander Ovechkin celebrated yet another one of his goals in a really special way.
After finishing the calendar year 2022 with a hat trick, Ovechkin picked up right where he left things in the Capitals’ first game of the new year.
He scored two goals in the game against the Buffalo Sabres and had a multi-goal game for the 165th time in his career. When Ovechkin scored his second of the night on an assist from Conor Sheary, he celebrated by making his way to the glass and doing a ”fist bump” with his son Sergei, who was sitting in the first row.
Alexander Ovechkin has now scored 28 goals in 40 games this season and 808 in his career. The Russian phenom is now only 87 goals shy of Wayne Gretzky for most goals of all time.
Alex Ovechkin also has eight goals in his past five games, and many now believe that there isn’t any doubt that Ovi will break Wayne Gretzky’s incredible goal record. With the pace he’s scoring right now, it doesn’t seem like we’ll have to wait too long until he becomes the best goalscorer in league history.
