The Tampa Bay Lightning started the season well, but on Monday, they had a tough game against the Toronto Maple Leafs, eventually losing their second game of the season. The Maple Leafs were up 5-1 with just under six minutes remaining when frustration began to run high.
Zemgus Girgenson delivered a hard check on Oliver Ekman-Larsson as the Maple Leafs’ defenseman battled for the puck along the boards.
Max Domi, son of the legendary enforcer Tie Domi, seemed to believe that Girgenson had aimed high on Ekman-Larsson and immediately took exception.

Domi, who was close to the incident, went right after Girgenson and didn’t hesitate to drop the gloves. He landed a few punches before both players fell to the ice, where Domi continued swinging.
He wouldn’t let up until officials stepped in to pull him off.

On social media, many criticized Domi, claiming it was clear that Girgenson had no intention of fighting. Despite this, Domi kept throwing punches.
‘Broke an unwritten rule,’ one user said.
‘Domi is such a tool. Fakest tough guy in the league,’ another added.
‘Punching while down is such a b—h move,’ a third wrote.
‘Such a big tough guy, fighting someone who doesn’t even fight,’ a fourth commented.
