If you were watching NHL on ESPN Studio on Wednesday, you probably didn’t miss P.K. Subban’s unexpected joke that completely stunned everyone who heard it.
Absolutely no one saw it coming, and it even led to a hilariously awkward moment in the studio.
During the first intermission of Game 3 between the Boston Bruins and Toronto Maple Leafs, the cameras showed Jack Eichel cutting his stick with a saw before Game 2 between the Golden Knights and Dallas Stars.
Mark Messier was also in the studio, and he commented on the fact that Eichel used a power saw when cutting his stick.
”We’d have a lot of injuries if the guys I played with had power tools,” he said, referring to the fact that when he played, he had to use a hand saw.
But then it got awkward. P.K. Subban suddenly jumped into the conversation and said he had a joke in mind but didn’t want to say it.
“I was gonna say something but I’m not gonna say it,” he said, laughing.
But after some needling from the other guys, Subban relented.
“I was gonna say, I’m not a carpenter, but I carry around a hammer,” Subban said.
Messier immediately started laughing, and after an awkward silence, Steve Levy replied, ”Yes, you do. So I’ve heard.”
The laughter continued through the segment, and on social media, fans were absolutely stunned by Subban’s under-the-belt joke.
After posting the video, one account on X said, ”No way P.K. Subban said this on ESPN.”
