Erik Karlsson has a few tough years behind him. Since he signed his big contract with San Jose Sharks after dominating in the NHL with the Ottawa Senators, he just hasn’t played well. The Sharks haven’t been a playoff contester, and Erik Karlsson has not played on the level we’re used to.
The Swede has also had troubles with injuries and has been forced to several resting periods. But heading into this new season, he, for the first time in several years, was feeling a hundred percent in his body. The expectations grew on Karlsson, and he rolled back the time to his glory days last night.
The game between the San Jose Sharks and the Toronto Maple Leafs ended 3-3 in regulation. Erik Karlsson had two assists in the second period and would play a key role heading into OT. Timo Meier intercepted a bad pass from William Nylander, and Erik Karlsson took off. When in his prime, Karlsson was one of the fastest skaters in the NHL, and he showed he’s still got it, as John Tavares had absolutely no chance of catching up.
Karlsson kept his cold on the break-away, and goalie Erik Kallgren didn’t stand a chance. Erik Karlsson has now scored nine points in ten games played, and fans believe he’s back in his form of the good ol’ days.
”I think he’s finally healthy. Love to see it,” one said.
”I am all f*cking here for the EK65 resurgence. 9 points in 10 games so far holy shit is he back,” said another.
”Vintage EK65 finishing off the Leafs makes me all warm and fuzzy on the inside,” said one Senators fan.
