Crosby and Letang’s amazing gesture to Marc-Andre Fleury

Marc-Andre Fleury might have just played his final game in Pittsburgh.

The legendary goalie is expected to retire after this season, so when he took the ice at PPG Paints Arena on Tuesday, everyone in the building knew it was likely the last time ‘Flower’ would be there as an active player.

Fleury spoke about the emotions even before the game, and it was a deeply moving night for him, the Penguins, and their fans. Fleury spent the first 13 seasons of his career in Pittsburgh, winning three Stanley Cups with the organization.

In what was likely his last start in Pittsburgh — and only his third start of the season — Fleury delivered a solid performance, stopping 26 of the 29 shots he faced from the Penguins to lead the Wild to a 5-3 win.

Marc-Andre Fleury was also named the first star of the game, and when it was announced, Penguins’ home fans chanted his name.

But it wasn’t just the fans who wanted to show appreciation for the iconic goalie. As Fleury took a lap to salute the crowd, Sidney Crosby and Kris Letang—also cornerstones of the Penguins’ franchise for the past 15 years—stayed on the ice to hug their former teammate and honor the goalie with whom they shared so much success.
