There have been a lot of ups and downs during the Toronto Maple Leafs’ early season.
On Tuesday, they had probably their worst showing of the 2024-25 campaign, losing 6-2 to the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Many expected them to bounce back in Thursday’s game against the visiting St. Louis Blues, but that wasn’t the case.
Alexandre Texier scored at 7:58 of the second period to make it 3-1 for the Blues, and Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube was anything but happy with the Leafs’ performance.

Berube, who coached the Blues to their first-ever Stanley Cup Championship, absolutely lost it on the bench and decided to rip into the Leafs’ first line of Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, and Matthew Knies.
The video of Berube snapping at his star players quickly went viral, with fans having a lot to say about it.

The Maple Leafs’ stars haven’t played up to standard in the past two games, and they were bound to hear it. Postgame, Berube explained what made him furious.
“Just not doing things right,” said Berube. “It was lazy hockey.”
Captain Auston Matthews was clear in his postgame message: they need to improve.
“We just need to be better,” he said. “We need to be in position, we need to fill spots, we need to check better.”
