The 2024-25 NHL season isn’t going the way Connor Bedard had hoped, and he’s been visibly frustrated at times. Now, a video of a mic’d up Bedard is making the rounds on social media, revealing his harsh words to one of his childhood idols during a game.
Connor Bedard is a generational talent, and he proved it in his rookie season with the Chicago Blackhawks.
He broke several records in his first year in the NHL, leading or co-leading all rookies in goals, assists, and points. Naturally, he was awarded the Calder Trophy during the NHL Awards despite missing a month of play due to a broken jaw.
Connor Bedard chirped Patrick Kane
But Bedard’s sophomore year hasn’t been as successful. Many had hopes for Bedard and the Blackhawks taking another step, but so far, that hasn’t been the case. Bedard didn’t score a goal between October 26 and November 27, a 12-game goalless drought.
In the middle of that drought, the Blackhawks played the Detroit Red Wings, where one of Bedard’s childhood idols, Patrick Kane, now plays. During the game, Bedard was assessed a minor penalty for tripping Kane.
Bedard drops F-bombs while mic’d up
It just so happened that Bedard was mic’d up at the time, and on Tuesday, a video of the incident was released, and it immediately went viral because of Bedard’s reaction. Bedard immediately dropped an F-bomb after the referee blew the whistle for a penalty, but he wasn’t done there. As he skated to the penalty box, he hilariously told the referee to let Patrick Kane know something.
”Tell him to stand on his f—king feet. Soft as f—k.”
Bedard and Kane had praised each other before the game, but that didn’t seem to mean much for Bedard after the controversial penalty … But it was probably just Bedard venting some frustration as the Blackhawks never led the game and ended up losing 4-1. After 25 games played of the 2024-25 season, the Blackhawks rank last in the league standings, with an 8-15-2 record.
