Carey Price rumored to be traded to THIS Western Conference team

Some players are virtually untouchable – or so it seems. Ever since Wayne Gretzky was traded in 1988 to the Los Angeles Kings, it became evident that even superstars, or the greatest hockey player of all time, are not safe from being brought up in trade negotiations.

Carey Price, who is believed to be the Montreal Canadiens’ franchise goaltender, may be on the move, according to Jean-Charles Lajoie of 91.9 Sports FM, a radio station in the Montreal area.

According to his sources, the St. Louis Blues were in contact with the Canadiens and have shown interest in Price. The return? Lajoie indicated that the Blues are ready to offer up Jake Allen, 2017 first-round draft pick Robert Thomas and a first-round pick.

Lajoie added that Montreal was looking to add Carter Hutton instead of Jake Allen in the deal and another first-round pick. So all in all, it would be Hutton, two-firsts, and Thomas for Price.

The Canadiens are near the bottom of the Eastern Conference and are 9-points out of the second wild-card spot. Price has played all 534 games in the NHL with the Habs, tallying 284 wins and has a career 2.43 GAA. Price sits third-all time in GP with the Canadiens, only behind Patrick Roy (551) and Jacques Plant (556).

So, what do you do if you’re Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin? That’s a pretty good haul for Price, but the Blues would still need to accept seemingly giving away three first-round selections for the netminder. The Canadiens could also look at the upcoming off-season to find a goaltender either through Free Agency, or they could look at potentially another trade.
