The Vancouver Canucks are going to the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the second time since 2015.
They still have a chance for the top spot in the Pacific Division with one game to play, hoping to catch the Dallas Stars for the No. 1 seed in Western. And what a perfect time it is to brag about it.
The Canucks have a rough couple of years behind them, but they’ve been looking great with Rick Tocchet on the bench.
When they played the Calgary Flames on Tuesday for the penultimate game of the regular season for both teams, they didn’t let the opportunity slip to rub some salt into their opponent’s wound.
The Calgary Flames are nowhere near playoff contention, and they have traded some of their biggest star names, such as Nikita Zadorov and Elias Lindholm, who both will play with the Canucks in the postseason.
When they played on Tuesday, tempers started to flare late in the second period.
As players were arguing with each other, a camera between the two benches caught Canucks defenseman Filip Hronek delivering a brutal chirp at the Flames’ bench, and luckily, it was picked up by the hot mic as well.
Hronek was talking to Flames’ Rasmus Andersson, who is also known for being a trash-talker, but what the Canucks defenseman said was absolutely hilarious: “You have holidays in two days!”
It wasn’t just a great chirp but an accurate one as well. The Flames season is indeed ending on Thursday after they play the San Jose Sharks.
But for the Canucks, a first-round playoff meeting against the Vegas Golden Knights, L.A. Kings, or the Nashville Predators awaits.
