Game 1 in the Western Conference semifinals series between the Colorado Avalanche and St. Louis Blues was tied 2-2 with just a minute to go of regulation when Brayden Schenn got sent to the penalty box for a high stick. Schenn got tangled in with an opponent, and as the Avs’ player fell, Schenn’s stick went up, and he was called for a penalty on the play and in a critical stage of the game.
And to say that Schenn was upset with the call would be the understatement of the century. Schenn was so angry he took his stick and started hitting the penalty box camera repeatedly in one of the biggest meltdowns of the year.
And yeah, the camera managed to get it all on tape, despite Schenn’s merciless beating.
Schenn could at least calm down as the Blues killed the penalty off, and the game went to overtime. Colorado won the game halfway through the first overtime period by a Josh Manson goal.
