Brandon Tanev isn’t the most notorious goalscorer in the league. Although he’s a forward, his specialties lie in the game’s defensive side, but this season was his best when it comes to goalscoring.
It was the first time he played all 82 games of the regular season, and he managed to score 16 goals. And he’s already making a mark in this year’s playoffs.
Tanev scored a short-handed goal to make it 2-0 to the Kraken in the first period of Game 2 against the Colorado Avalanche. Tanev loves that get under the skin of his opponents and even their fans, so when he scored a rare playoff goal—this was his 7th of his career—he made sure to celebrate it.
Tanev lost his balance directly after scoring and fell to the ice close to the boards. When he stood up, he blew a kiss through the glass to the Avalanche fans standing in the first row.

The Avalanche fans didn’t love what the first period brought, and they booed the Avalanche off the ice for the first intermission.
It sure looked like it sparked something, as Avalanche turned the game around with three unanswered goals, and with a 3-2 win, the series is now tied 1-1. Tanev didn’t want to say if there was any inspiration behind his celebration.
He did, however, have opinions about his team’s performance.
“We just gave their top players some time and space, and when you give time and space to the quality of players that team has, they’re going to make plays,” Tanev said.
“At the end of the day, we’ll learn from our mistakes here. We’re excited to get back home and ready for the next one.”
