Boston Bruins hits new low after suffering 10th straight loss

Things are going horribly wrong for the Boston Bruins, and they just can’t seem to catch a break—or win a game—right now. Although star goalie Jeremy Swayman played fantastically in Thursday’s game against the Montreal Canadiens, the Bruins hit a new low.

The Bruins just can’t get it to click, and fans hoping for a turnaround in Thursday’s game against the Montreal Canadiens were left disappointed. Nick Suzuki and Brendan Gallagher each recorded a goal and an assist as the Canadiens cruised to a comfortable 4-1 victory.

To be fair, the scoreline could have been even more lopsided if not for Jeremy Swayman. The star goalie, who signed a hefty contract with the Bruins in 2024, hasn’t lived up to the hype this season. But on Thursday, he made some key saves to prevent an outright humiliation.

Boston Bruins hits new low

The Boston Bruins managed just two shots in the second period, with their first coming at the 6:28 mark. Meanwhile, Canadiens goalie Sam Montembeault faced little resistance, needing only 18 saves to secure the win.

The loss extends Boston Bruins’ winless streak to 10 games—a new low for the team. It’s their first 10-game losing streak since the 2009-10 season, tying the second-longest skid in franchise history. If they lose two more—against the Hurricanes and the Sabres—they’ll set a new franchise record. The current record of 11 consecutive losses was set in the team’s inaugural season in 1924-25.

The Boston Bruins’ decision to trade captain Brad Marchand is looking worse by the day, as the team has been in freefall ever since. They’ve now fallen behind the Buffalo Sabres in the Atlantic Division, with two games in hand. In terms of win percentage, only three teams in the entire league rank lower than Boston.
