It is unclear how long the Detroit Red Wings will be without Frans Nielsen, as Nielsen was rocked last night in their contest with the Boston Bruins.
Nielsen was caught late in the first period in Detroit’s own end. After attempting to make a play, it looked as if the shoulder of David Backes hit Nielsen’s head. Fans are arguing if the play was dirty as Nielsen wasn’t fully looking when he was decked. There is also a debate as to whether the hit was late.

“It’s an unnecessary hit to the head,” Red Wings captain Henrik Zetterberg said of the play.
Nielsen left the game and did not return in the contest. Backes is set to have a hearing with the NHL’s Player Safety Department for the hit. Backes was given a 2-minute minor for roughing on the play.
Boston’s David Backes will have a hearing today for interference on Detroit’s Frans Nielsen.
