When it comes to fighting, this tilt will be going in the record books – for all the wrong reasons.
The ice had barely been scratched before Antoine Roussel and Luke Schenn dropped the mitts. In the early going of the first-period matchup between the Arizona Coyotes and Dallas Stars, both players set the tone for the remainder of the game. We were just over a minute into the game when the heated altercation began. In the early moments of the tussle, both men had high-energy as they tried to gain an advantage.
Like with all fights, we saw the two counterparts try to gain an edge on their opponents. After throwing each other around, eventually, we saw punches being unleashed– except no one is certain that a punch had landed.
Schenn threw some lefts towards Roussel, but it didn’t look like any contact was made. Roussel eventually dropped to one knee before the linesmen broke up the tilt.
Roussel is no stranger to fighting, racking up the five-minute majors in his junior career, all the way up to the NHL. He recorded 8 fights last season. Schenn has recorded many fights over his career as well, so these boys knew what they were doing.
The entire fight was essentially both men pulling at one another. Dallas did the punching on the scoreboard, however, as they managed to drop Arizona 3-1.
