Brad Marchand is a physical guy who doesn’t shy away from hits or battles on the ice. But he has an almost unique ability to rarely be on the receiving side of big hits.
Marchand, labeled the biggest rat in the NHL, often lays big hits, but once in a while, he gets destroyed on the ice as well.
And during Tuesday’s matchup with the Buffalo Sabres, he found himself getting absolutely bulldozed by the train that is Rasmus Dahlin.
Early in the game, with the Bruins up 2-0 in the game after two goals in just 68 seconds, Rasmus Dahlin battled for the puck along the boards, and when Brad Marchand arrived, he absolutely bodied him with a great hit that sent Marchand flying.
On social media, the video of Marchand getting hit quickly went viral, and everyone loved what a great hit it was from Dahlin.
”I would almost call it clever how he did that. Marchand always diggin’ which I admire, but it catches him out in dramatic fashion now and then, for sure. Dahlin was relying on that persistence,” one said.
”Solid hip check. Dahlin has taken that next step this year. Good physical D with a scoring touch,” another said.
”I’m a simple hockey fan. I see Brad Marchand hit hard. I click updot,” a third added.
The Bruins, of course, responded to the hit, and all hell broke loose as all players on the ice tried to defend their star players. Dylan Cozens of the Sabres did a massive job with pulling players from a helmet-less Rasmus Dahlin.
Although Rasmus Dahlin’s massive hit was the game’s highlight, the Bruins got the last laugh. The B’s added three more goals before the Sabres responded, and heading into the third period, they were up 5-1.
Victor Olofsson scored the Sabres’ second of the game, but the Bruins won 5-2 and improved to 12-1-2, ranking 1st in the league.
