Former NHLer Paul Bissonnette, now a co-host of the popular Spittin’ Chiclets podcast and an analyst for the NHL on TNT studio show, was hospitalized on Sunday after being assaulted by a group of men at a restaurant in Scottsdale.
Bissonnette was released from the hospital and recorded a new episode of Spittin’ Chiclets on Monday. On social media, he shared some details about what happened at the restaurant on Sunday, as a “bunch of drunk golfers” caused trouble after one person was asked to leave.
”They asked one guy to leave. And then one guy kept getting in the manager’s face, put his hands on him,” BizNasty said. ”And that went on for about, probably 30-45 seconds. You could tell he was a little shocked and surprised and stunned. It’s a family restaurant, I don’t think there was anybody in there who could go maybe help him out. So I went over and I just grabbed the guy’s arm that was on him. I said, ‘Sir, if you continue to harass and assault the staff we’re gonna have problems.’ And then they just started chucking. It escalated extremely quickly.”

Bissonnette said he fought around seven men throughout the restaurant and into the parking lot. In the video, he appears swollen, with visible bruises on his face.
”Got taken down a couple times. I got bootf—ked in the head three times … Luckily didn’t get knocked out,” Bissonnette said.
Bissonnette also thanked the restaurant staff, the police, and the hospital staff, who provided him with prompt medical attention. Police later confirmed that six people were arrested and charged with assault and disorderly conduct.
”There was an altercation inside the restaurant with six adult men and the management. Reportedly, Paul Bissonnette tried to help management calm the men and get them to leave. The situation escalated to the men assaulting Paul Bissonnette both inside and outside of the restaurant,” Scottsdale Police Sgt. Allison Sempsis told Fox 10.
According to Fox 10, five of the individuals are facing misdemeanors, while the sixth is facing a felony.
”Just bad dudes,” Bissonnette said. ”Way too drunk and I don’t know what else they had in their system. I’m very, very angry at these guys and kind of want their names out there and kind of want them to pay the piper.”
