New Jersey Devils forward Marcus Johannsson didn’t hold back when asked about Brad Marchand’s hit that gave him a concussion.
The incident occurred before the All-Star break. Marchand caught Johansson in the head with his elbow, resulting in a five-game suspension. Johansson received a concussion on the play and hasn’t played since the injury occurred on January 23rd. Johansson was back at practice Monday and shared his thoughts about the play.
As mentioned, Johansson didn’t hold back on his comments about Marchand or the incident. He called the play “stupid” and didn’t think the five games were enough. Johansson also hopes that Marchand’s actions don’t result in ending someone’s career.
Here are #NJDevils Marcus Johansson's unabridged thoughts on the Bruins' Brad Marchand hit that left him with a 2nd concussion in 3 months. This is one of the most honest, raw and thorough takedowns of another NHL player/a dirty hit as you'll see. pic.twitter.com/sjgTuLqHe8

Johansson has dealt with concussion issues prior to the Marchand hit, so it’s understandable why Johansson would be outspoken about the sloppy and dangerous play.
Now that Johansson is skating with the club, it shouldn’t be long for him to return to the ice during a game.
#NJDevils: Marcus Johansson says it’s still a process for him to get back to playing but practicing today is a step in the right direction.
