The quest for Lord Stanley began Wednesday evening, and it’s safe to say the two-time defending champions Pittsburgh Penguins were ready to roll.
Faced off against rival Philadelphia, the Penguins got out to an early lead and never looked back. Scoring three goals in the opening frame (Rust, Hagelin, Malkin), the Penguins easily downed Philly 7-0.
Sidney Crosby showcased his skills in the routing, as he scored a natural hat-trick in the victory.
Game 2 takes place Friday evening, and the Flyers will desperately need to revisit the drawing board if they want to get back into this series.
