If you play pro hockey, the odds are great that your kids also love hockey as they grow up. Nathan Gerbe is perhaps most renowned for being one of the shortest players in NHL history.
The shortest ever was Roy ”Shrimp” Worters. He was a goalie at just 5’3”, who played in the 1920s and 30s and, despite his height, proved to everyone that you don’t need to be massive to make it in the NHL. He played nearly 500 games, posted 66 shutouts, and played two All-Star Games.
But second on the list is Nathan Gerbe, and what makes it even more impressive is that Gerbe actually played in an era where you needed some physical play to make it. Gerbe officially retired last year after playing pro hockey since 2008, when he made his NHL debut for the Buffalo Sabres.
Gerbe played 11 years in the NHL, and if you want to make it for so long, you have to hate losing. To have a winning mentality is perhaps the most important asset for an NHL player, and Gerbe certainly had it. And so does his kid, it appears.
Nathan Gerbe posted a video on Twitter of his kid playing hockey, and when a goal was conceded, the kid was absolutely heartbroken. At first. Then it all turned to anger.
The kid first started crying as the puck went into the net, and when his mom said something, the kid immediately turned over and threw the stick in a huge throw.
Nobody loves losing, but few hate losing this much! We absolutely love it, though. What an awesome video!
